MEET THE OH HAPPY DAY TEAM

Team work makes the dream work.

A heartfelt connection is a powerful thing.

Oh Happy Day was founded in 2014. Over time, Oh Happy Day has evolved from a one-person enterprise into a team of innovative contributors, each specialising in their own unique talents – from floral designers, to stylists and décor specialists and logistics and lead wedding planners.

The OHD team believes that our ability to connect with our clients is what differentiates us from other event planners, and this connection is at the core of every event that we design.

We do more than plan events: we convert life’s biggest moments into lasting memories that our clients remember forever. At OHD we feel privileged to have had the opportunity to meet and connect with wonderful people and assist them while they prepare for some of life’s biggest adventures.

Joelene Botha

Hello, I’m Joelene, a self-confessed chocoholic, book-nerd, beach lover, wife, friend and creative who’s always planning her next adventure. My friends call me Jojo, and I’m so pleased you’ve found your way onto Oh Happy Day.

For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with creative planning. I’ve been lucky enough to turn my passion into my career, and from our very first meeting together you will feel the creative energy and excitement of your planning journey begin. I can’t help it; my enthusiasm is contagious, and I pride myself on creating cherished moments that you and your guests will remember forever.

I really love people. Relationships are ultimately what make me tick. What I love most about relationships is how unique and original each one can be. It’s my interpretation of these love stories that lends itself to creating unforgettable celebrations and happy clients.

I am so inspired by nature. When I’m not planning and designing events, you’ll find me outdoors – either on the beach or spending time in the African bush; and always with a really good book. I am supported by my wonderful husband Stef and our two handsome cats Rusty and Felix: wherever they are, is where you’ll find my heart.

Hello, I’m Joelene, my friends call me Jojo, and I’m so pleased you’ve found your way onto Oh Happy Day. For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with creative planning. I’ve been lucky enough to turn my passion into my career, and from our very first meeting together you will feel my creative energy kick in. It’s kind of contagious.

Together with my amazing team, we will walk alongside you and your partner on your wedding planning adventure, getting to know you and making sure that your day is a true interpretation of your own unique love story. Let’s get started!

  • "This world is not made up of shades of grey. It is made up of colours of azure and coral and emerald and marigold. But it insists on painting everything black and white, and fitting it into boxes that it understands. Do not do that to yourself. Paint your personality a million different colours. Leave them scratching their heads, unsure of how to handle the magic that you are. "

  • Love being different? Well, so do we!🍉 Our seating plan for Tammy and Lion's wedding was made up of escort cards, with guest names arranged in alphabetical order against corresponding tables, and (of course) in various shades of her colour scheme. Simple gold tassels completed the look. Pretty cute, right?

At OHD we don't do "cut and paste" weddings - it's about designing something unique to you. As your wedding planners you can trust that we value creative originality first and foremost when interpreting your love story; and we take pride in the fact that no two OHD weddings are ever the same.

Thank you to the Bash Girls for making this concept possible @thebashdesignstudio.
  • Happy 1st Anniversary to these beautiful souls! I can't think of a better way to celebrate than with a feature of Nash & Angie's in the Winter Edition of Wedding Album Magazine.

Swipe left for all the pretty and check out our IG story for the full feature 🍉
  • For the love of rings and pretty things! This little beauty caught my eye (and captured my heart) over on @ruffledblog.

Totally loving unconventional engagement ring designs right now. Cheers to brides and grooms who love a little "different" and like to push creative boundaries as much as we do. 🍉
  • Beauty is in the eye of the blush pink and gold beholder 😍

And boy, did we have fun with this design for Chris and Joelene!

This Cape Town destination wedding was one for the books, and wouldn't have been possible without @blueoliveevents and @dear.idea

  • Hey brides 🍉

Designing a wedding can be hard if you're bombarded by ideas on different platforms like IG/Pinterest or if you're the kind of couple who get invited to so many beautiful celebrations! So here's the best bit of advice you'll ever get when it comes to planning your wedding (are you ready?)
-
COMPARISON IS THE CHIEF ROBBER OF JOY. Our clients hear me say this all the time, but it's so true.

If you continue to compare or measure your wedding against so-and-so's or against the ultimate Pinterest wedding, you are missing the point. Your wedding is unique because it is your own story. Make it about your journey together, fill it with all your favourite things, and also remember that what is to follow after your wedding, is what really counts.
